Connecting Sudan. Now, not later.
The Global Transaction Strategy says:
Four major flows must proceed over the next several decades if globalization is to continue its advance and the Gap is to be shrunk. The U.S. government and its allies in the Core must enable and balance all four of these flows, for the disruption of one will damage the others, leaving the global economy and security environment vulnerable to the sort of system perturbations witnessed in connection with Sept. 11.The four flows -- strategic strands of connectivity -- are: People, Energy, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and Security.
People have to flow from the Gap to the Core, as the latter ages demographically.Energy has to flow from the Gap to the New Core especially (specifically, Developing Asia), where energy use will double in the next two decades.
Foreign direct investment needs to flow from the Old Core (U.S., Europe, Japan) to the New Core (especially China, Russia, and India) in order to enable their further integration into the Core.
Finally, security has to flow from the Old Core (especially from the system Leviathan known as the U.S.) to the Gap, with a special emphasis in the near- and mid-term on the Middle East due to its central role as breeding ground for transnational terrorism and as the major source of energy for Developing Asia.
So here's my question: Can we find strategically useful information that provides the justification for decision makers in the U.S. government and its allies in the Core to choose a win/win scenario allowing Sudan to find its way?

What do we want to know?
And how will that inform us?
Countries in red were better represented in the blogosphere than in Google news; in blue, were less well represented. The maps suggests that, for the most part, folks in the blogosphere talk about Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Europe and parts of Latin America less than the media sources covered by Google News do.
So, my question to everyone is, What do we want to know? and How will that inform us?

BloggerCon 2004: The take away
From "automatic response" to "Action"
The Master gives me tools
And other Masters
Who give me tools.
But the vision,
The vision comes from the universe.
So now we build the bridge.

Critt's Question 1
Both candidates know that coalition building is key to success. I'm interested in the future. Going forward, I want to know how the next person-who-will-be-President plans to build coalitions. And, with that plan, I want to know how that person-who-will-be-President measures success in their coalition building efforts. In other words, I want, expect, clarity from people-who-would-be-President.
Here's my question:
As head of the U.S. military, How will you measure the effectiveness of military operations other than war?

Calling: Candidates Bush and Kerry
Learning from the past, looking to the future.
Candidates Bush and Kerry,
Because the "electability" question has, once again, bamboozled Primary-Voting-Americans ability to put together a cogent question set which would have allowed us to better vet the candidates, I accept that one of you will be taking the Presidential Oath of Office in January, 2005. Therefore, I feel compelled to make sure that November-Voting-Americans receive an opportunity to better understand what we might expect from each of you, as head of the executive branch, as the American Head of State, as Chief of the Government, and as head of the U.S. military -- Commander in Chief.
Questions are forthcoming.
